Lodge with views of Cumberland Bay, Robinson Crusoe Island
Signature accommodation ★★★★ experience

Lodge

Exclusive accommodation integrated into the island's natural environment. Austere design and local materials, with Cumberland Bay before you every morning.

The La Robinson Oceanic lodge is not a conventional hotel. It is a space where architecture submits to landscape, where every detail exists to connect you with the island, and where the absence of the superfluous becomes the greatest of all comforts.

Architecture in dialogue with the island

The cabins were designed with local materials — Juan Fernández cypress, volcanic stone and shingle roofing — following an austere yet contemporary aesthetic that speaks to the archipelago's building tradition. Proportions are generous, natural light takes centre stage, and the view of Cumberland Bay from the terraces is simply impossible to ignore.

A low-impact experience

Capacity is deliberately limited to preserve the quality of the experience and minimise environmental impact. We operate solar energy systems, rainwater harvesting and a rigorous composting and recycling programme. Being sustainable here is not marketing: it is a necessity born of genuine respect for the place we inhabit.

Island gastronomy

Breakfasts feature local produce — island honey, artisan jams, eggs from neighbouring farms — and dinners celebrate the sea: Juan Fernández lobster, viejo ceviche, grilled tuna. The menu changes with what the sea and season offer, not the other way around. Wines are sourced from small, carefully selected Chilean estates.

Disconnected, but with everything you need

Connectivity on the island is limited, and that is part of the arrangement. There is basic wifi for essentials, but the digital disconnection is one of the values guests most appreciate in hindsight. Instead, there are guides, kayaks, paddleboards, snorkel gear, and the most honest library you will have encountered: books about the archipelago, the Pacific's natural world, and the story of Alexander Selkirk — the real castaway who inspired Defoe.

Falling asleep to the sound of the Pacific and waking to Cumberland Bay in stillness is an experience those who have lived it need not explain to those who have done the same.

Why choose us

What makes us different

01

Limited capacity by choice

We are not a resort. Capacity is deliberately small to preserve the experience and the place. No crowds, no noise.

02

Architecture that belongs to the island

Local materials, traditional construction techniques, low impact. The cabins are not on the island: they are part of it.

03

Authentic connection, no performance

No entertainment team, no forced activities. The island is the entertainment. Guests who want that find exactly that.

04

Real sustainability

Solar, rainwater harvesting, composting, zero single-use plastic. Not because it is trending: because living in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve demands a standard.

From those who have already been here

"I disconnected from everything. Slept without an alarm, ate freshly caught lobster, and took three days to remember Instagram exists."

"The cabin is small in square metres and enormous in everything else. The design, the view, the silence. Extraordinary."

"The staff knows the island by heart. Recommendations on where to hike, dive, when to leave at dawn. Invaluable."
